Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Labour and Employment in India. It runs the Employees' State Insurance (ESI) system, providing employees with socioeconomic security. ESIC operates as a self-financing scheme, where employees contribute a fixed percentage of their wages.
The following establishments are eligible for the ESI scheme:
- Shops
- Hotels/restaurants (only in the sales business)
- Cinemas and preview screening rooms
- Motor vehicle transportation on the road
- Newspaper businesses that are not classified as factories
- Private educational and medical establishments
