SABBATICAL

Sabbatical

A sabbatical refers to a designated period of time during which an employee takes a break from their regular work responsibilities to pursue personal interests, recharge, or engage in activities that may include travel, writing, volunteering, research, or any other personal development endeavors. During a sabbatical, the employee remains employed by the organization but is relieved of their day-to-day duties and responsibilities.

Sabbaticals are not exclusive to any particular industry but are commonly associated with educational institutions, where professors or teachers may take a sabbatical to engage in scholarly activities, research, or teaching at a different institution. As companies recognize the value of offering employees opportunities for personal and professional growth the concept has expanded to various other sectors as well.
